Board Sets Key Dates for 2026

MASWM's Board of Directors set next year's conference dates during their meeting at the Fall Conference.
The MASWM Board of Directors met early on Monday, Sept. 15, of the Fall Conference to deal with several issues facing Missouri workshops.

Event Chair Charlie Fischer noted that three major 2026 meetings are already being planned:

  • Wednesday, Jan. 28 Workshop Products and Services Day at the Capitol
  • The April 26-28 Spring Conference planned in Jefferson City (new location)
  • The Fall Conference Sept. 27-29 in Springfield

Other topics included highway rest area contracts, recycling and advocacy. The board also voted to move forward with development of a new website by Rachel Hiles of Nth Degree Media & Design. The site is intended to offer an updated look and expanded capabilities to help MASWM members better communicate.

Advocacy was a major topic, with Chair Heather Pugh sharing that October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). A-Team Missouri is planning activities throughout the month, including an art contest and more. Legislative Chair Kit Brewer discussed MASWM’s work in Washington and efforts with the National Coalition for Employment Choice.

Members discussed the importance of workshop relationships with everyone from Missouri legislators to county SB40 boards. MASWM members are working with these and other organizations to maintain and grow positive connections to ensure employment options that provide opportunities for thousands of Missourians with disabilities.
