DOCO Inc.’s Dawn Cox Receives Local Chamber Volunteer & Service Honor

As executive director at DOCO Inc., Cox advances the nonprofit’s “Lead with Kindness” mission—creating dignified, meaningful employment and skill-building opportunities for individuals with developmental differences in Douglas County.
Her service also extends beyond DOCO’s walls, including support for local schools and civic partners, organizing community-focused initiatives and fundraisers, and championing inclusive opportunities that strengthen families and businesses alike.
“This recognition truly belongs to our whole community—our employees, partners, and neighbors who show up for one another every day,” said Cox. “Service is a team effort, and I’m grateful to be part of a town that leads with kindness. But knowing my employees are the ones who nominated? That means the world to me.”
This prestigious award was established in 1989, in honor of John N. Dickison, and is presented each year by the Ava Area Chamber of Commerce. It recognizes a citizen of Douglas County who has achievement in community service and strong dedication to the people in our community.
