Dignified and meaningful employment
for people with disabilities
MASWM Leader’s Swearing In Is Part of Larger MASWM Efforts
Accompanying her was Ron White, president of the board for Ideal Industries in Richmond where Pugh serves as director; her mother Laura Wrisinger; and Ray County Associate Judge Lori Baskins who issued the oath of office.
Representing MASWM on MODDC, Pugh will share employment satisfaction and other learnings from a workshop perspective. The council works to assist individuals, families, and the community to include all people with developmental disabilities in every aspect of life.
Pugh’s work is one of MASWM communications efforts in Missouri and the nation. Board member Kit Brewer works with legislative consultant Lynne Schlosser in Jefferson City. Brewer is also a member of the national Coalition for the Preservation of Employment Choice, which maintains multiple initiatives to protect Section 14(c) and other critical supports for workshops and similar organizations.
MASWM efforts also include work by Katie Jones of Boone Center, Inc. She represents MASWM on the Missouri Governor´s Council on Disability (GCD) and the Missouri Association of County Developmental Disabilities (MACDDS). The council promotes full participation and inclusion of the nearly one million Missourians with disabilities while MACDDS is an association of 43 county Senate Bill 40 boards as well as well as the City board of St Louis. Pugh also leads MASWM’s Advocacy Committee, which supports A Team Missouri and other grassroots efforts.
In fact, nearly all MASWM officers and many members work on these and similar efforts. Two group visits to Washington, D.C, have already occurred this year, with one including dozens of meetings with members of Congress, the Senate, and their staff members. Other work includes networking in Jefferson City and direct contacts with individual state and federal leaders, like-minded organizations, and more.
