DESE Covid Grants Open Through Aug. 28

Workshop managers are reminded of $4 million in grants that is largely available, awaiting more shops to apply.

Administered through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), the grant application deadline is Aug. 28. MASWM Board members stress that the applications require some detail, and waiting until the last minute is not a good idea. However, the applications can be modified later, so if some information or documentation is not immediately available, an application can be filed then modified later.

Called the Sheltered Workshops Coronavirus Funds Relief Grant, the funds are designed to lessen the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Missouri sheltered workshops and their employees.

The grant has three main goals:

• Provide payroll protection (PP) to certified employees that received no pay during the early stages of the pandemic.

• Reimburse the shop for additional costs for major expenditures due to the pandemic.

• Close the technology gap that became apparent as the new norm of business is being conducted as of this date and into the future.

More information and applications are available at this link.
